DECORATIVE TILE: BODHI LEAF WITH STAR
These decorative tiles are handmade by a Seattle artist for Jizo Spring Buddhist Supplies. On the night of his enlightenment, the Buddha sat in the shelter of a great tree, the leaf of which has come to represent his enlightenment. The moment of his full enlightenment came as he saw the rising of the morning star. Together, the Bodhi leaf and star represent the Buddha's enlightenment and, more generally, the potential of all beings to realize enlightenment.
The tiles are made of fired clay. The Bodhi leaf and star are glazed and in raised relief. The tile background is not glazed and is the natural reddish-brown color of the clay. The tile can be hung on a wall by means of a small loop of copper wire covered with black plastic that is attached to the top of the tile. This wire can be easily removed or replaced.
Because these tiles are handmade, no two tiles are exactly alike.
The tiles are available in three styles.
